CHAPTER 96.
An act declaratory of the law authorising the Closing of
Judgments in the several County Courts of this State.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,
the clerks of the several county courts may enter any
judgment satisfied, upon the order, in writing, of the plain-
tiff, or his attorney, to be filed among the papers.

Manner of suits
being dismissed.
|
SEC. 2. And be, it enacted, That the several county
courts of this State shall prescribe, by a rule of court, the
manner in which suits may be dismissed by the parties, or
their attorney, during the recess of court.

A supplement to an act, entitled an act in aid of the con-
struction of an Out-let Lock of the Tide Water Canal,
at Bell's Ferry, in Harford County, immediately oppo-
site to Port Deposit, in Cecil County, passed at Decem-
ber, eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, chapter two hun-
dred and thirty-four; and also the act of eighteen
hundred and thirty-eight, chapter four hundred and six-
teen, entitled an act to ensure the completion of the
Susquehanna Canal and the Tide Water Canal.

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, it appears to this General Assembly, that the
object designed to be obtained by the first of the acts to
which this is a supplement, cannot be accomplished in con-
sequence of the limited duration of said act — therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the said act of eighteen hundred and
thirty-nine, chapter two hundred and thirty-four, and all
the privileges, franchises and rights conferred thereby,
shall be and the same are hereby continued in full force and
virtue to, and for the full end and term of five years, from
and after the expiration of the time when, by the said ori-
ginal act, the same were to terminate.
