CHAPTER 90.

entitled an act to limit the number of Justices of
the Peace appointed in and for Cecil County.

nate, to ap-
point 24 justi-
ces of peace.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act, the
Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Se-
nate, shall annually appoint twenty-four justices of the
peace in and for Cecil county, to reside in the different dis-
tricts, as follows: in the first election district, three; in the
second election district, three; in the third election district,
four; in the fourth election district, three; in the fifth elec-
tion district, three; in the sixth election district, four, in
the seventh election district, four; and that no other justices
of the peace in and for said county shall be appointed.

If vacancies oc-
cur.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That if any justice of the peace
appointed as aforesaid, shall die, resign, refuse to serve, or
be from any other cause disqualified from performing the
duties of a justice of the peace, the Governor, upon infor-
mation thereof, shall nominate in the manner described in
the first section of this act, other person or persons to fill
said vacancies.

An act for the relief of Thomas Ashcom, of Queen Anne's
County.

Levy court to
levy amount of
a judgment.

How collected.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the levy court of Queen Anne's county be and they arc
hereby authorised and directed at the time of making their
next levy, to levy on the assessable property of said county,
the amount of a judgment rendered in Queen Anne's coun-
ty court at May term eighteen hundred and thirty-seven, in
favor of John Cockey against Thomas Ashcom, together
with the interest and costs thereon up to the time of making
said levy, which said amount or sum of money, when so
assessed and levied, shall be collected as other county
charges are, and paid over to the said Thomas Ashcom or
his order.
