CHAP. 51.
Make by-laws.

of the same; may make by-laws, not contrary to the laws
of this State: and do all other acts necessary for the regu-
lation, prosperity and promotion of education in said school
house.

Vacancies.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That when a vacancy occurs
in the hoard of trustees, the same shall be filled by an elec-
tion; and at such elections, every free white citizen that
may have contributed to the said school house to the
amount of one dollar, shall be entitled to vote for trustees
at such election.

If trustee ne-
glect his duties.

SEC: 3. And be it enacted, That if any trustee shall ne-
glect to attend to the duties of his office, for the space of
twelve months, his place shall be considered vacant.

CHAPTER 50.

Passed April 6,
1841.

Capital stock
may be increa-
sed.

A supplement to the act, entitled an act to incorporate the
Boston and New York Coal Company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the capital stock of the Boston and New
York Coal Company, may be increased to thirty thousand
shares, of one hundred dollars each, whenever, in the opin-
ion of the president and directors of said company, such
increase shall be deemed expedient and necessary for the
objects contemplated by the act to which this is a supple-
ment

Restriction re-
pealed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the proviso contained
in the second section of the act to which this is a
supplement, be and the same is hereby repealed, so far as
it restricted the capital stock of said company to ten thou-
sand shares or one million of dollars, and that the capital
stock of said company shall be limited only to thirty thou-
sand shares or three millions of dollars.
