RESOLUTIONS.

riff of their respective counties, immediately preceding
each election, the said compilation of the election laws,
whose duty it shall be, under the like penalty, during the
week preceding each election, to leave one copy thereof
at the place of holding elections in each election district,
for the use of the judges thereof.
Resolved, That it shall be the duty of the returning judge
of each election district, at the time of making returns of
any election, to deposit said compilation of the election
laws in the office of the clerks of the several counties, to
be by them safely kept in their respective offices until the
same be required for further use.

Resolution appointing State Directors in the Annapolis and
Elk Ridge Rail Road Company.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
John Johnson, John Miller and Thomas Lansdale be, and
are hereby appointed State Directors in the Annapolis and
Elk Ridge Rail Road Company.

1841.

Resolution in favor of Richard I. Jones.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Harford county court be, and the same court is hereby au-
thorised to enquire whether Joshua Cook, heretofore sen-
tenced by said court to the penitentiary, was, at the time
of said sentence, the property of Richard I. Jones, of the
city of Annapolis; and if the said Jones is proved to be
the owner of said negro, then the said county court is
hereby empowered and directed to determine what sum
shall be paid by Harford county to the said Jones, in the
same manner as if the said negro had been indicted as the
slave of said Jones, and lawfully sentenced to the peni-
tentiary.
