CHAP. 179.

they in their discretion shall deem it expedient, be and they
are hereby authorised to levy a sum sufficient for the pur-
pose of making a Causeway over said swamp, where the
public road crosses the same, at or near Bryantown.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That William N. Bean,
Aloysius Bowling and R. L. Burch, be anil they are hereby
appointed commissioners to contract for and superintend
the making of the same.

To draw on col-
lector for the
amount.

SEC, 3. And be it enacted, That the levy to be made
by the provisions of this act, shall stand to the credit of
said commissioners for the purpose herein mentioned, on
the levy list of said county, who shall, and they are hereby
authorised to draw on the collector of the county tax, for
the amount so levied.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners
or superintendents, appointed in virtue of the second sec-
tion of this act, shall each be entitled to the sum of two
dollars for every days attendance as such, for which an ac-
count shall be rendered to the commissioners of Charles

collected as other county charges are; and further, that the
said commissioners or superintendents shall, in writing, un-
der their hands, report to the commissioners of Charles
county their proceedings in relation to the making of said
Causeway.

CHAPTER 178.

1841.

An act relating to the compensation payable by Officers to
the Sheriff of Cecil County, for the collection of Offi-
cers Fees.

To charge 8
per cent.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, it shall and
may be lawful for the sheriff of Cecil county, to charge
and receive from all officers who may choose to require of
the sheriff to collect for them any officers fees, a commis-

sion of eight per cent, on the amount of fees that may be so
collected, instead of the commission heretofore allowed in
such cases.
