CHAP. 173.
|
do swear or affirm, as the case, may be, that I will lay out
and make the Catoctin Valley Turnpike road of Frederick
County, according to the best of my skill and judgment; and
I do further swear or affirm (as the case may be) that I am.
not interested in any land through which said Road is likely
to pass.
|

Limits of road.
|
SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That the said company shall
cause the said road to be laid out not exceeding forty feet
in width, and not more than twenty feet in width whereof
made an artificial road, to be composed of stone or gravel,
and shall in no place rise or fall more than will form an an-
gle of five and a half degrees with an horizontal line.

If not commen-
ced in 5 years.
|
SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That if the said company
shall rot commence the making of said road, within five
years from the passage of this act, and shall not complete
the same within two years thereafter, the right of the said
company shall revert to the State of Maryland.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That the said company shall
be and is hereby clothed and invested as respects the said
road with all and singular the rights, privileges, immunities
and advantages, not inconsistent with the provisions of this
act, that are held and possessed by the Baltimore and Fre-
derick Turnpike Company, and shall be governed by the
same regulations, and be subject to the same fines, penal-
ties and restrictions, as the said Baltimore and Frederick
Turnpike Company now is, where the same are not incon-
sistent with the provisions of this act.

Banking forbid.
|
SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That said corporation is
hereby prohibited from issuing any note, certificate, device
or evidence of debt, to be used as a currency.

An act to incorporate the Newington Beneficial Society of
Baltimore.
|
|
|
Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, Thomas Jenkins, Lemuel Steward, John
Doming, Charles Turner, and others, by their petition to
this General Assembly, have set forth, that they have form-
ed themselves into an association, by the name of the New-
ington Beneficial Society, for the purpose of providing a
fund, by small periodical contributions in time of health,
for the relief of each other and their respective families in
the event of sickness, distress and death; and whereas, the
