CHAPTER 163.

An act in favor of Sarah Baldwin, of Harford County.

Passed Feb. 23,
1841.

WHEREAS, Sarah Baldwin, of Harford county, hath set
forth by her petition, that her husband Taylor Baldwin,
having lost his mind and speech, is therefore wholly un-
qualified to transact any business, and that she experiences
great inconvenience in collecting debts which were due to
him, as well as those which have been contracted with her
since his insanity — therefore,

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, Sarah Bald-
win, of Harford county, be and she is hereby authorised
to sue and to be sued in her name of Sarah Baldwin, as if
she were a feme sole, and to transact all other business for
him, and in bis name, as he might or could do were he of
sane mind and capable of transacting business.

CHAPTER 164.

To act as feme
sole.

An act to make valid the proceedings of the Commissioners
of Charles County, and to authorise the appointment of
an Inspector of Tobacco at Port Tobacco Warehouse, in
said County.

Passed Mar. 2,.
1841.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the proceedings of the commissioners of Charles
county, establishing a tobacco warehouse at or near the
town of Port Tobacco, in said county, and nominating and
recommending to the Governor persons from whom the ap-
pointment of inspectors may be made, as provided for By
an act of the General Assembly of Maryland, passed at
November session, eighteen hundred and one, chapter six-
ty-three, entitled an act to regulate the inspection of tobac-
co, be and the same arc hereby ratified, confirmed and

confirmed.

made valid, to all intents and purposes; and the Governor
of this State is hereby authorised and required to nominate,
and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to
appoint an inspector of tobacco at said warehouse, in the
same manner as if the said warehouse had been established,
and the said nomination and recommendation made between
the fifteenth and twenty-fifth day of January last.
