CHAP. 147.
To pay bonus.

For use school
fund.

In case of fail-
ure to pay.

the same is authorised to be reduced by this act, that the
president and directors of the same shall, on the first Mon-
day in. January on each year, pay or cause to be paid to the
treasurer of the Western Shore of the State of Maryland,
the sum of twenty cents in every one hundred dollars of the
said augmented capital stock, which the said bank shall
have actually received under and by virtue of this act, to
be applied by the treasurer to the free school fund of, this
State, in the same manner as the similar tax is now applied;
and in case of the failure of the president and directors of
the said bank to make such payment for the space of six
months after the said augmented capital stock, or any part
thereof, shall have been actually paid to the said bank, the
charter of the said corporation shall be forfeited, and shall
be deemed null and void.

Dividends.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the president and direc-
tors shall or may, as often as any money or property may
be recovered, or received for or on account of the debts
due and demands, included in the estimate of those losses
by which the capital stock of the said bank has been redu-
ced, to cause a dividend thereof to be made among the
stockholders entitled to the same.

Inconsistent
acts repealed.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That such of the provisions of
the act to incorporate the stockholders of the Franklin
Bank of Baltimore, and the several supplements thereto, as
are inconsistent with the provisions of this act, or repug-
nant thereto, be and the same are hereby repealed.

Bonus only to
be paid on re-
duced stock.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the tax of twenty cents
in each hundred dollars of the capital actually paid in, which
is now required to be annually paid into the treasury of
the State, be and the same is hereby required, to be paid
only on the stock so reduced, and which hereafter may be
paid in.

1841.

An act to incorporate the Morning Star Lodge, No. Twen-
ty, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, in the
Town of Havre-de-Grace.

SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That John Donohoe, Hollis Courtney, F. D.
Anderson, and all other persons, who now are or may here-
