CHAP. 126.

have heretofore been vested in trustees for the use and be-
nefit, and in trust for the Methodist Episcopal Church in
Frederick, shall be invested in the said body corporate and
their successors forever; and the said body corporate are
hereby authorised to bargain, sell, lease and convey any
part of the said property, or any other property which may
hereafter be acquired by the said corporation, in as full and
effectual a manner as any person or body corporate might
do.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
shall, and are hereby authorised to hold by gift, devise, be-
quest or purchase, any real, personal or mixed property;
provided, the annual income, net or interest of the same
shall not exceed three thousand dollars, with full power to
sell, transfer and assign the same.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the minister or preacher
in charge, shall, if present, always preside at all meetings
of the trustees; and in case of death, absence or removal,
the trustees shall appoint one of their own number to fill
the office, who shall have all the authority and privileges
of president.

shall be signed
by the trustees.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That all deeds for the con-
veyance of the real estate shall be signed by the trustees,
or a majority of them, with the corporate seal thereto at-
tached; and in case there shall be no common seal, the deed
shall be signed and sealed by the trustees, or a majority of
them, and acknowledged by them in due form of law; the
said deed to be executed and acknowledged in and by the
name, style and title of the corporation.

CHAPTER 126.

Passed Feb. 23,
1841.

An act to authorise Thomas Hook, former Collector of
Carroll County, to complete his Collections.

Time extended.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Thomas Hook, former collector of taxes
in Carroll county, be and he is hereby authorised and em-
powered to collect any taxes, or balances of taxes now re-
maining due to, and uncollected by him, in aforesaid coun-
ty, in the same manner, and with the same power and pri-
leges as are allowed by the existing laws in said cases made
and provided.

Make affidavit.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the aforesaid Thomas
Hook shall, in every instance, before he may proceed to
