SEC. 2. And be it -further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

(House Bill 651)

AN ACT to add a new section to the Code of Montgomery
County (1947 Edition, being Article 16 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Montgomery
County", said new section to be known as Section 683A,
to follow immediately after Section 683 of said Article,
to be under the sub-title "Libraries", and under the sub-
heading "Bethesda", relating to the library established
by the Bethesda Public Library Association, Inc.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to the
Code of Montgomery County (1947 Edition, being Article
16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title
"Montgomery County", said new section to be known as
Section 683A to follow immediately after Section 683 of
said Article, to be under the sub-title "Libraries", and
under the sub-heading "Bethesda", and to read as follows:

683A. If and when the Board of Trustees of the
Bethesda Public Library Association, Inc., shall have ex-
ercised in the affirmative the option provided for in Section
168 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code (1947 Supple-
ment), the said Board upon the recommendation of the
Advisory Council of the said Association, and in the name
of the said Association, may enter into contracts with
the Board of Library Trustees of Montgomery County for
the sale, lease or gift of its books, furniture and other
library equipment to the Montgomery County Library for
use in the Bethesda area. This authority shall be con-
tingent upon the creation and establishment in Montgomery
County of a Board of Library Trustees and a County Li-
brary, under the provisions of Sections 163 to 181, inclu-
sive, of Article 77 of the Annotated Code (1947 Supple-
ment). In such event, the said Board of Library Trustees
of the Bethesda Public Library Association may invest
the cash or other fixed assets of the said association in real
estate or other property to provide enlarged and permanent
