Local Laws of Maryland (1947 Edition), title "Montgomery
County", sub-title "Chevy Chase", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments to read as follows:
69. Said Citizens' Committee of said Martin's Additions
1, 2, 3 and 4 to the Village of Chevy Chase shall not expend
for material or work, a sum exceeding Five Hundred Dollars
($500. 00) without having first advertised the specifications
therefor and inviting bids for the same, after which said Com-
mittee may purchase such material or make contract for such
work, or have such work done by employed labor, or otherwise,
as it may deem best; and provided further that said Com-
mittee may make contracts after due advertisement, for
lighting or supplying said Martin's Additions 1, 2, 3 and 4
to the Village of Chevy Chase with water for periods of five
years, but no longer period at a time; and provided further
that no member of said Citizens' Committee shall furnish any
supplies of any kind or contract in any manner with said
Citizens' Committee.
SEC. 2. And he it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 406
(House Bill 598)
AN ACT to empower the Commissioners of Leonardtown to
borrow by bonds or negotiable notes with such maturity
and interest rates as the Commissioners shall determine, not
more than $75, 000 for general town improvements, and to
provide for payment of same.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That in addition to any other amounts authorized by
law, the Commissioners of Leonardtown are hereby authorized
and empowered to borrow and to pledge the faith and credit
of said town by the issuance of bonds and/or negotiable
paper, in an amount not exceeding $75, 000. The sum so bor-
rowed shall be used in the discretion of the Commissioners for
general town improvements. The interest rate and maturity
dates shall be as the Commissioners in their discretion may
determine. If bonds are issued they shall be signed by the
President of the Commissioners of Leonardtown with his
