(House Bill 490)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
233A of Article 18 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Queen Anne's County", sub-
title "Fire Companies", as said section was amended by
Chapter 453 of the Acts of 1947, raising appropriations to
the several volunteer fire companies of Queen Anne's
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by tine General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 233A of Article 18 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Queen Anne's
County", sub-title "Fire Companies", as said section was
amended by Chapter 453 of the Acts of '1947, be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

233A. The County Commissioners of Queen Anne's County
are hereby authorized and directed to appropriate annually
the sum of Eleven Thousand Dollars (f 11, 000) for the use
and benefit of the organized fire companies of Queen Anne's
County and to levy on the taxable basis of said county a tax
sufficient to produce said Eleven Thousand Dollars ($11, -
000). The amount thus levied and appropriated shall be used
for the purchase, improvement, maintenance and operation of
fire apparatus and fire equipment for the said fire companies
and the said Commissioners shall, on or before the fifteenth
day of August each year pay the sum of Two Thousand Dol-
lars ($2, 000) to the Treasurer of the following fire companies:
Goodwill Fire Company, Inc., Centreville; Sudlersville Fire
Company; Church Hill Community Fire Company; Queens-
town Volunteer Fire Company; Stevensville Volunteer Fire
Department, Inc., One Thousand Dollars ($1, 000) to the
Queen Anne Hillsboro Fire Company.

SEC. 2. And be It further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.
