SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 352

(House Bill 378)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments., Section
188 of the Code of Montgomery County (1947 Edition),
being Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land, title "Montgomery County", sub-title "County Com-
missioners and Treasurer", authorizing and empowering the
County Council of Montgomery County to adopt or install
a group life and health insurance and group hospitalization
plan or system in cooperation with employees of said
County, and to include in such plan or system the paid
employees of quasi public corporations, such as Fire De-
partments and Public Library Associations, supported
wholly or partially by taxation.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 188 of the Code of Montgomery County
(1947 Edition), being Article 16 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Montgomery County", sub-title
"County Commissioners and Treasurer", be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

188. The County Council of Montgomery County is hereby
authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to adopt or
install a plan or system of group health and life insurance
and group hospitalization in cooperation with the employees
or any portion thereof in any office, agency or branch of the
government of said County and with paid employees of quasi
public corporations engaged in the performance of govern-
mental functions, such as Fire Departments and Public
Library Associations, supported or financed wholly or par-
tially by taxes levied annually on all land and improvements
and any other property assessed for county purposes within
the respective Fire, Library and other Special Tax Areas or
Districts of such quasi public corporations, whenever it may
deem such to be advisable in the interest of the health, com-
fort and welfare of said County.
