vary in number between two and three depending upon the
number of vacancies to be filled at the particular election.

(6) The regular annual election of members of the Com-
missioners of Leonardtown shall take place on the first Tues-
day of May annually, and the polls shall be opened at the
Court House in Leonardtown between the hours of 1. 00 P. M.
and 6. 00 P. M. A resident Justice of the Peace or some other
resident of said Town shall be designated by the Commis-
sioners of Leonardtown to be the judge of said election, and
to make the returns thereof, and he shall receive as compen-
sation for his services such sum as may be set by the said
Commissioners, not to exceed the sum of Five (5) Dollars. In
case of a vacancy among the members of the Commissioners
of Leonardtown, the election to fill said vacancy shall take
place at such time as a majority of the remaining Commis-
sioners shall direct in the manner herein prescribed for a
general election.

(7) The costs and expenses of publication hereby directed
-and the costs of providing registration books, as well as the
cost of printing official ballots shall be paid out of the General
Fund of the Commissioners of Leonardtown.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts
of laws inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, be and
they are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two Houses
of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

1230 of the Montgomery County Code (1947 Edition), be-
ing Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws, of Mary-
land title "Montgomery County", sub-title "Washington
Grove", relating to the qualifications of the Mayor of the
Town of Washington Grove.
