CHAPTER 318
(House Bill 52)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
4 (e) (1) of Article 95A of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1947 Supplement), title "Unemployment Compensa-
tion", sub-title "Benefit Eligibility Conditions", relating to
the eligibility conditions for receiving unemployment com-
pensation benefits.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 4 (e) (1) of Article 95A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Unemployment
Compensation", sub-title "Benefit Eligibility Conditions", be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

(1) During his base period he has been paid wages for
insured work equal to not less than thirty (30) times his
weekly benefit amount; and
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 319
(House Bill 56)
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 27 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Crimes and Pun-
ishments", said new section to be known as Section 70A,
to follow immediately after Section 70 thereof, and to be
under the sub-title "Cruelty to Animals", relating to the
abandonment of any dog, cat, or other domestic animal.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"Crimes and Punishments", said new section to be known as
Section 70A, to follow immediately after Section 70 thereof,
