pended for not longer than two years, provided that the
Director upon being satisfied that the person holding such
permit is incompetent or otherwise unworthy and that such
person if allowed to continue to hold such certificate may
do or permit acts or conditions tending to endanger the
lives or health of persons employed in or about the mine,
may suspend the right of such person to use such permit
until a hearing is held to determine the questions in contro-
versy but such suspension shall not exceed thirty days. The
holder of any permit of competency shall have the same
right of being informed of the charges against him and
being heard thereon by the person or persons who issued
such permit as is provided the holder of a first-class mine
foreman's license in this section.

75. Each workman, when employed, shall have his
attention directed to the general and special rules by the
person employing him. Further it shall be the duty of the
person employing him to clearly direct his attention to all
exits and escapeways of the mine or mines in which he
will be employed.

143. The operator may search or cause to be searched,
any person entering or about to enter, any mine, to
prevent such person from taking or carrying therein,
any intoxicating liquors, matches, pipes, cigars, cigarettes,
or any device for making light or fire not authorized or
approved.

174A. The provisions of this Article shall, whenever
applicable, include and apply to fire clay mines and the
mining and handling of fire clay, and the Bureau of Mines
shall determine when the said provisions are applicable.
It shall be the duty of the Bureau of Mines as soon as
practical after the effective date of this act to promulgate
and distribute to the interested persons or corporations
engaged in fire clay mining a copy of such applicable laws
and such other rules and regulations, which the Bureau is
hereby authorized to promulgate, relating to fire clay min-
ing and the operation of such mines.

175. Any person who neglects or refuses to perform
the duties required of him by this sub-title, or by regula-
tions duly made thereunder, or who violates any of the
provisions or requirements thereof, shall except as other-
wise provided in this sub-title, be deemed guilty of a mis-
demeanor and shall, upon conviction thereof in the county
within which the misdemeanor was committed, be pun-
ished by fine not exceeding two hundred dollars. Any
