Tuesday after the first Monday in November, 1946, and
every fourth year thereafter for a term of four (4) years.
They shall have all the powers, and perform all the duties
that are now or hereafter may be imposed on them by law,
and they shall each receive, as compensation, the sum of
nine hundred dollars per annum and $300. 00 per year for
expenses, and mileage at the rate of five cents (5c) per
mile while attending to their official duties, but not to ex-
ceed One Hundred and Twenty-five Dollars per year for
any Commissioner.

139. The said County Commissioners shall meet every
Tuesday in each calendar month from the first day of
January to the first day of January next succeeding, and
at such other time or times as may be necessary.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 281
(Senate Bill 428)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
738 of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland & Baltimore City Charter (1938 Edition),
title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Justices of the Peace
and Constables", as said section was amended by Chap-
ter 601 of the Acts of 1941, relating to leave of Police
Justices of Baltimore City.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 738 of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland & Baltimore City Charter (1938 Edi-
tion), title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Justices of the
Peace and Constables", as said section was amended by
Chapter 601 of the Acts of 1941, be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as fol-
lows:

738. The said station-house Justices are granted a
leave of absence with pay for sixty days during each
and every year; and the Governor is authorized to desig-
nate one of the civil magistrates to act in their place
during said absence, who shall be paid the same as the
station-house Justices receive. Provided, however, that no
deduction shall be made from the pay of a Police Magis-
trate who is absent more days than authorized by this sec-
