SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.

(Senate Bill 394)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 64A of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Merit
System", said new section to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 16 of said Article, and to be known as Section 16A,
relating to the revision and abolition of classifications and

" the creation of new classifications of positions in the State
service.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted "by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
64A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement),
title "Merit System", said new section to be known as Sec-
tion 16A, to follow immediately after Section 16 of said
Article, and to read as follows:

16A. In all cases in which the State Employees Standard
Salary Board shall recommend the revision or abolition of
existing classifications or the creation of new classifications
of positions, it shall be incumbent upon the Commissioner of
State Employment and Registration to make a study of such
recommendations and with the approval of the Governor in
either case, to adopt or reject them within sixty days after
the submission thereof to him.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.
