SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That Chapter 287
of the Laws of Maryland of 1908 be and it is hereby
repealed.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tions 326, 327, 329 and 331 of the Anne Arundel County
Code (1947 Edition), being Article 2 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel
County, " sub-title "Fire Companies, " to extend the pur-
pose for which appropriations for fire companies may
be used and providing for increase in salaries of fire
company chauffeurs in the event they are brought under
the State Employees' Retirement System.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 326, 327, 329 and 331 of the Anne Arundel
County Code (1947 Edition), being Article 2 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel
County, " sub-title "Fire Companies, " be and they are
hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments, to read
as follows:
326. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County are. hereby authorized and empowered to levy a
special tax in each Election District of Anne Arundel
County to raise an amount of money not exceeding Forty-
four Thousand Dollars ($44, 000. 00) for the year 1950 and
every year thereafter including such additional amounts as
may be necessary for the purchase, maintenance, operation
and replacement reserves of fire fighting equipment, truck
quarters and chauffeurs' dormitories, of Volunteer Fire
Companies of Anne Arundel County, including the City of
Annapolis, and such other Volunteer Fire Companies as
may be created hereafter, by and with the consent of said
County Commissioners and the Mayor and Aldermen of the
City of Annapolis for the Sixth District of Anne Arundel
County. The amount to be distributed to the Fire Company
or companies of each Election District shall be levied only
