CHAPTER 225
(Senate Bill 209)

AN ACT to repeal Sections 948, 949, 950, 951, 951A, 953,
954, 955, 956, 957 and 957A of Article 4 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland and Baltimore City
Charter (1938 Edition), title "Baltimore City", sub-title
"Special Fund", and all amendments to said sections and
to enact in lieu thereof a new section to be known as
Section 948 and to follow immediately after Section 947
of said Article, relating to the employees of the Police
Department of Baltimore City who are included in the
pension system of said Department.

WHEREAS, Sections 948, 949, 950, 951, 951A, 953, 955,
956, 957 and 957A merely provide for the inclusion under
the Special Fund of certain employees of the Police De-
partment who were not originally included under said
Special Fund, such as telephone operators, police matrons,
engineers, etc.; and

WHEREAS, these sections are no longer applicable, as all
officers and employees of the Police Department appointed
since January 1, 1947, must become members of the Em-
ployees' Retirement System of Baltimore City, thereby
making the above-mentioned sections unnecessary; there-
fore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 948, 949, 950, 951, 951A, 953, 954, 955, 956,
957 and 957A of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland and Baltimore City Charter (1938
Edition), title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Special Fund",
and all amendments to said sections, be and they are
hereby repealed and that a new section be and it is hereby
enacted in lieu thereof, said new section to be known as
Section 948, to follow immediately after Section 947 of
said Article, and to read as follows:

948. All officers and employees of the Police Depart-
ment of Baltimore City who, on January 1, 1947, were
members of the Special Police Pension System and did
not become members of the Employees' Retirement System
of Baltimore City, shall be entitled to all the rights,
privileges and benefits of the Special Fund under Sections
937 to 947, inclusive, of this Article and any amendments
thereof.
