to licenses to hunt certain game birds or animals and
eliminating the provision providing for a short-term non-
resident license.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 15(a) and (b) of Article 99 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Birds,
Game and Inland Water Fish", sub-title "Hunter's License",
be and it is hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
15. (How and Where Obtained. ) (a) For the purpose of
providing a fund for the payment of the expense of protecting
and propagating certain birds and animals, and preventing
unauthorized persons from killing the same, no person or per-
sons shall at any time hunt, pursue, catch, kill, trap, shoot,
or attempt to hunt, pursue, catch, kill, trap, or shoot in any
manner any game birds, game animals, fur-bearing animals
without first having procured a license, except as provided in
Section 17, so to hunt, pursue, catch, kill, trap, shoot, or
attempt to hunt, pursue, catch, kill, trap, or shoot, and then
only during the respective periods of the year when it shall be
lawful to hunt, pursue, catch, kill, trap, shoot, or attempt to
hunt, pursue, catch, kill or shoot said birds or animals. The
said license shall be procured from the Clerk of the Circuit
Court of any County, or from the Clerk of the Court of Com-
mon Pleas of Baltimore City, and in addition thereto may
be procured from such agent as the Director may appoint,
on forms prepared and supplied by him in the following
manner, to wit:
(b) The applicant shall fill out, sign, and forward to the
Clerk of the Court a blank application to be furnished by the
Director through the Clerks of said Courts, or Agents, stating
the name, age, color, height, color of eyes and hair, occupa-
tion, and place of residence of the applicant; application for
any such license may be made through the mails. The appli-
cant, if a non-resident of the State of Maryland, shall pay
to the Clerk of the Court or Agent in which he files his or
her application, the sum of Fifteen Dollars and Fifty Cents
(|15. 50) as a license fee.
SEC. 2. And 'be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.
