the regular municipal election in said town to be held in the
month of May, 1949, there shall be submitted to the regular
and qualified voters of the town of Mount Rainier the ques-
tion whether the salaries of the Mayor and Councilmen shall
be increased as provided by Section 1 of this Act. There
shall be printed on the ballots to be used at said election the
title of this Act and underneath said title on separate lines
a square or box to the right of and opposite the words "For
Increase In Salaries" and a corresponding square or box to
the right of and opposite the words "Against Increase In
Salaries" so that the said voters shall be able to designate
their decision for or against the increase in salaries. If a
majority of the votes cast at said election on this question
shall be "For Increase In Salaries", then this Act shall im-
mediately become effective. If a majority of the votes cast
in said town on this question shall be "Against Increase In
Salaries", this Act shall be null and void and of no further
effect whatsoever.

SEC. 3. And be it -further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two Houses
of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 180
(House Bill 352)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (Flack's 1943 Edition),
title "Prince George's County", sub-title "Laurel", to be
known as Section 879A, to follow immediately after Section
879, empowering the Mayor and City Council of Laurel by
ordinance to regulate the use of streets, sidewalks and
public property for certain private purposes, and to require
a license fee for the exercise of such special privileges.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (Flack's
1943 Edition), title "Prince George's County", sub-title
