affected, and for that reason the Department has requested

The Bills, accordingly, have been vetoed.
JUSTICES OF THE PEACE
HOUSE BILL No. 552
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
14 of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947
Supplement), title "Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Crim-
inal Jurisdiction", allowing Justices of the Peace to sus-
pend sentence within five days after trial.
This Bill is designed to authorize Justices of the Peace to
suspend sentence within five days after trial. In my opinion
this represents a very unwise departure from existing law and
I have decided to veto this Bill.
KENNEDYVILLE
SENATE BILL No. 519
AN ACT to add 19 new sections to Article 15 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Kent
County", to be under a new sub-title "Kennedyville", said
new sections to be known as Section 221 to 239 and to fol-
low immediately after Section 220 of said Article, relating
to the Town of Kennedyville.
This Bill is to incorporate the Town of Kennedyville in
Kent County. Its provision relating to the area which is to
be incorporated are not precise as may be desired and ques-
tions will probably arise as to the exact boundaries of the
town. If the citizens of the community desire to incorporate,
they may find it desirable to have made a survey of the town,
determining its exact limits and present another Bill to the
General Assembly for its consideration. I am, therefore,
vetoing this Bill.

ment of Labor and Industry", to be under a new sub-title
"Medical Examinations", said new section to be known
as Section 193 and to follow immediately after Section 192
of said Article, prohibiting an employer from requiring
