SENATE BILL No. 502

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
287 (a) and (b) of Article 93 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Testamentary Law",
sub-title "Register of Wills", increasing the compensation of
the Registers of Wills of Baltimore and Howard Counties.

As this Bill is a duplicate of Senate Bill 422, which I have
approved, this measure is unnecessary and I am, therefore,
vetoing it.

HOUSE BILL No. 257

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
57, 58 and 61, and to repeal Section 59 of Article 1A of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "City of Cumberland", sub-title "Taxes", changing cer-
tain dates and eliminating the Board of Equalization and
Review.

I have vetoed this Bill because it is a duplicate of House
Bill No. 424 (Ch. 559), which I have approved.

HOUSE BILL No. 601.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 64A of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Merit
System", said new section to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 16 of said Article, and to be known as Section 16A,
relating to the revision and abolition of classifications and
the creation of new classifications of positions in the State
Service.

This Bill is a duplicate of Senate Bill No. 394 (Ch. 274),
which has been heretofore signed.

For that reason this Bill has been vetoed.

HOUSE BILL No. 602

AN ACT to repeal Sections 1 to 9, both inclusive, of Article
44 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition and
1947 Supplement), title "Hospitals—Maryland", sub-title
"Spring Grove State Hospital", and Sections 10, 12 and 13
of said Article and title, sub-title "Springfield State Hos-
pital".

This Bill is a duplication of Senate Bill No. 395, which was
signed and is Chapter 275 of the Acts of 1949. Therefore, I
will veto House Bill 602.
