laws, or parts of laws, inconsistent with the provisions of this
Act, be and they are hereby repealed to the extent of such
inconsistency.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

(House Bill 732)
AN ACT to add a new section to the Code of Public Local
Laws of Baltimore County (Smith's 1948 Edition), to be
under a new sub-title to be known as "Purchasing Depart-
ment", under the title "County Commissioners", said new
section to be known as Section 58B, to follow immediately
after Section 58A thereof, to establish a Purchasing Depart-
ment of Baltimore County and to authorize the County
Commissioners of Baltimore County to adopt appropriate
rules and regulations for its operation.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be added to the Code of Public Local
Laws of Baltimore County (Smith's 1948 Edition), to be under
a new sub-title to be known as "Purchasing Department",
under the title "County Commissioners", said new section to
be known as Section 58B, to follow immediately after Section
58A thereof, and to read as follows:
PURCHASING DEPARTMENT
58B. The County Commissioners of Baltimore County are
hereby authorized to establish and maintain a Purchasing
Department, the head of which shall be the County Purchas-
ing Agent, who shall be appointed by the County Commis-
sioners. He shall direct the operations of the Purchasing
Department and perform, subject to the authority of the
County Commissioners, such duties and exercise such powers
as may be from time to time imposed on and conferred upon
said Department by the County Commissioners.
Materials and supplies of every kind, character and descrip-
tion, including stationery and printed matter needed and used
by the various departments, boards and bureaus of Baltimore
County shall be purchased by or through the Purchasing De-
partment.
