SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by
three-fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall
take effect from the date of the passage.

CHAPTER 740
(House Bill 539)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
347 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Baltimore County
(Smith's 1948 Edition), title "Public Works'7, sub-title
"Sewer and Water" (Metropolitan District), to change
the method of payment for installations of water supply
service pipes in the Metropolitan District of Baltimore
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 347 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Baltimore County (Smith's 1948 Edition), title "Public
Works", sub-title "Sewer and Water" (Metropolitan Dis-
trict), be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

347. Plans for extensions of water supply lines by the
Commissioners in the Metropolitan District shall be sub-
mitted to the Director of Public Works of Baltimore City for
approval. The work shall be subject to inspection by a repre-
sentative of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore. The
proper authorities of Baltimore City are hereby empowered,
authorized and directed to make installations of water supply
service pipes from the water mains to the curb line or, lack-
ing such limit at the time of installation, to a corresponding
appropriate location within the public way, whenever and
wherever requested in writing by the Chief Engineer of the
Metropolitan District. Before h request for the installations
of such water supply service pipes shall be submitted by the
Chief Engineer of the Metropolitan District to the proper
authorities of Baltimore City, the individual, firm or corpora-
tion desiring the installation of a water supply service pipe
