SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two Houses
of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
111 of Article 39 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947
Supplement), title "Fish and Fisheries", sub-title "Crabs",
amending the law with reference to crab fishing in Dor-
chester County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 111 of Article 39 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Fish and Fisheries", sub-
title "Crabs", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
111. (a) The use of an engine of any kind in or upon any
boat or vessel while said boat or vessel is being used, or while
any person thereon is engaged in scraping or scooping crabs
in any waters of this State is permitted; provided, that no
more than two scrapes may be used in or on any such boat and
provided that no such scrape may exceed forty-two (42)
inches in width.
(b) This section shall not apply to the following creeks in
Somerset County: Fishing Creek, Sandy Creek, Pond Creek,
and Shoal Prong of Cedar Island Marsh, and Flat Cap, Rock
Hall and Great Pond of James Island Marsh. In the afore-
said creeks the use of any engine of any kind in or upon any
boat or vessel, while said boat or vessel is being used, or while
any person thereon is engaged in scraping or scooping crabs,
is expressly prohibited.
SEC. 2. And be> it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.
