the County Commissioners of Baltimore County, hereinafter
called Commissioners. Each of the Commissioners shall re-
ceive, in addition to any sum now or hereafter provided by
any other law, the sum of Eighteen Hundred Dollars per
annum, payable semi-monthly, as compensation for the dis-
charge of the duties imposed upon them under this Act. Be-
ginning December 1, 1950, the compensation of said Commis-
sioners for the discharge of their duties under this Act, shall
be Three Thousand Dollars per annum, payable semi-monthly.

SEC. 2. And lye it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 719

(House Bill 361)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
346 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Baltimore County
(Smith's 1948 Edition), title "Public Works, sub-title
"Sewer and Water" (Metropolitan District), eliminating
the requirement of advertising for bids on jobs estimated
to cost less than Five Thousand Dollars ($5, 000. 00), re-
quiring the reception of bids for work estimated to cost
more than said sum, but permitting such work to be done
by direct employment of labor under certain conditions.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 346 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Baltimore County (Smith's 1948 Edition), title "Public
Works", sub-title "Sewer and Water" (Metropolitan Dis-
trict), be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

346. The Commissioners from time to time shall cause
surveys, studies, plans, specifications and estimates to be
made for water supply, sewerage and storm water drainage
systems in all those parts of the Baltimore County Metro-
politan District in which there is, in their judgment, a need
for water supply, sewerage or drainage. Whenever plans
shall have been completed for a water supply, sewerage or
storm water drainage system, or any part thereof, in any
part of the District the Commissioners shall proceed to con-
struct or cause to be constructed such systems, or parts
