tated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition and 1947 Supple-
ment), title "Health", sub-title "Chiropractic", relating to
the State Board of Chiropractic Examiners and clarifying
the provisions of the law relating to the practice of Chiro-
practic and prohibiting certain types of advertising.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 441, 446 (b and c), 448 and 449 of Article
43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition and 1947
Supplement), title "Health", sub-title "Chiropractic", be and
they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
441. There is hereby created and established a board to be
known by the name and style of the State Board of Chiro-
practic Examiners, and said board shall be composed of
three (3) resident course graduated1 practicing Chiropractors
of integrity and ability, who shall be residents of the State of
Maryland and who shall have practiced Chiropractic in the
State for a period of at least five (5) consecutive years.
446.
(b) All examinations in the preclinical basic sciences shall
be in writing, the subjects of which shall be as follows:
Anatomy and Histology, physiology, pathology, chemistry and
bacteriology, and the clinical subjects symptomatology, chiro-
practic principles, orthopedy, neurology and hygiene; chiro-
practic technic and practice, physical diagnosis, roentgenology
and physical therapy as defined in Section 531 of this Article
and may be either written or oral at the discretion of the
Board. Provided, however, that no chiropractors licensed
after June 1, 1949, shall practice physical therapy until he
shall have successfully passed an examination before said
Board on that subject, but any applicant may be licensed as
a chiropractor without the right to practice physical therapy
upon the successful passage of an examination on the sub-
jects hereinbefore mentioned other than the subject of physi-
cal therapy. A license shall be granted to all applicants who
shall correctly answer seventy-five percentum (75%) of all
questions asked, and if any applicant shall fail to answer
correctly sixty percentum (60%) of the questions on any
branch of said examination he or she shall not be entitled
to a license.
(c) Chiropractic is hereby defined to be a drugless health
system, the basic principle of which teaches that disease is
caused by interference with the transmission of nerve im-
pulses. The practice of Chiropractic is defined as diagnosis,
