SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 37B (i) of Article 87 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Sheriffs", sub-
title "Compensation and Duties", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
37B.
(i) The Sheriff of Dorchester County shall receive an
annual salary of $2, 400 and $600 per year for expenses and
an additional $600 for maintenance of automobile for the use
of the Sheriff and his deputies. He shall appoint, with the
approval of the State's Attorney of Dorchester County, a
Chief Deputy Sheriff who shall receive a salary of not to ex-
ceed Fifty Dollars ($50) per week and who shall also serve
as a special investigator and county detective under the joint
supervision and direction of the Sheriff and the State's
Attorney. The Sheriff shall also appoint another deputy who
shall receive a salary of not to exceed Forty-five Dollars
($45) per week. The Sheriff and his deputies shall serve all
process, both civil and criminal, issued by the several Trial
Magistrates of Dorchester County.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

AN ACT to add a new sub-section to Section 6 of Article
2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement),
title "Alcoholic Beverages", sub-title "Beer Licenses", said
new sub-section to be known as Sub-section (ff) and to
follow immediately after Sub-section (f) of said section;
to add a new sub-section to Section 7 of said Article to
be known as Sub-section (gg) and to follow immediately
after Sub-section (g) of said section; and to add a new
sub-section to Section 8 of said Article to be known as
Sub-section (ee) and to follow immediately after Sub-
section (e) of said section; and to add a new sub-section
to Section 9 of said Article, to be known as Sub-section
(ii) and to follow immediately after Section (i) of said
section; and to add a new sub-section to Section 11 of
said Article, sub-title "Beer and Light Wine Licenses",
