of Article 24 of said Code, title "Worcester County", sub-
title "Circuit Court", sub-heading "Court Stenographer",
as said sections were amended by Chapter 290 of the Acts
of 1947, increasing the salary of the Court Stenographer of
the First Judicial Circuit.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted Toy the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 136 (a) of Article 10 of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Dorchester
County", sub-title "Circuit Court", sub-heading "Court Sten-
ographer", being also codified as Section 29 of Article 20 of
said Code, title "Somerset County", sub-title "Circuit Court",
sub-heading "Court Stenographer", Section 20 of Article 23
of said Code, title "Wicomico County", sub-title "Circuit
Court", sub-heading "Court Stenographer", and Section 49 of
Article 24 of the said Code, title "Worcester County", sub-
title "Circuit Court" sub-heading "Court Stenographer", as
said sections were amended by Chapter 290 of the Acts of
1947, be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

136. (a) The salary of said stenographer shall be Four
Thousand Dollars ($4, 000) per year, the said salary to be
paid as follows: The County Commissioners of Dorchester
County, Wicomico County, Somerset County and Worcester
County shall each pay the sum of One Thousand Dollars
thereof, said payments to be made in quarterly installments
during the service, on the presentation of the certificate of
the clerk of either county or of either of said judges of said
court, to the County Commissioners certifying to the services
of said court stenographer. And the said County Commis-
sioners of the several counties are hereby directed and em-
powered to provide for the payment of their several portions
of the salary of the said stenographer at once 011 presentation
of said certificates.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.
