and appearances to writs and processes issued out of said
court shall be returnable accordingly; and in the trial of any
case in said court on either the law or equity side thereof,
the Judges or Judge presiding shall have the power and
authority to employ a stenographer or shorthand reporter to
take down the proceedings, including the testimony and
opinion of the court, for the use of the court; and the County
Commissioners shall levy such compensation for the service
of said stenographer or shorthand reporter as the court or
judge thereof shall approve of.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

AN ACT to add a new sub-section to Section 45 of Article
2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement),
to be known as sub-section (c-1), to follow immediately
after sub-section (c)? to require that in Baltimore County
applicants for liquor licenses shall be registered voters
of said County, and providing that the ten citizens required
to sign a certificate shall be owners of real estate within
one mile of the location of the proposed business and
registered voters of Baltimore County, rather than owners
of real estate and registered voters of the precinct in which
the business is to be conducted.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new sub-section be added to Section 45 of Article
2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement),
to be known as sub-section (c-1), to follow immediately
after sub-section (c), and to read as follows:
45.
(c-1) (Baltimore County. ) In Baltimore County the appli-
cation shall also contain a statement that the applicant is a
registered voter of Baltimore County.
The certificate shall be signed by at least ten citizens who
shall be owners of real estate within one mile of the location
of the proposed business and registered voters of Baltimore
County.
