for such appointment and shall within two days, there-
after, deliver the same unto the Chief of Police of the
City of Hagerstown. The Chief of Police shall deliver any
such warrant received by him as aforesaid to the person
appointed as such judge of election, or leave the same at
his last place of abode within two days next after the
delivery of the said warrant to him and upon his failure
to do so he shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject
to a fine of Fifty Dollars. Said Board of Supervisors of
Election of the City of Hagerstown shall likewise cause
similar warrants to be delivered to such clerks or other
officers of election as are now or may be hereafter required
by law. The compensation for each judge and each clerk
of election shall be the same as the compensation allowed
judges and clerks of election in Washington County by
the election laws of Maryland.

17. The Board of Supervisors of Election of the City
of Hagerstown shall each receive the sum of Two Hundred
Dollars for each primary, general and special election con-
ducted by them, to be paid by the City of Hagerstown.

18. All primary, general and special elections, registra-
tion and revision days shall commence at eight o'clock in
the morning of the respective days and shall continue with-
out adjournment, and shall be closed at eight o'clock in
the evening of the same day, and no ballot shall be taken
and no person registered, nor the list of voters revised be-
fore the said hour of eight o'clock in the morning, nor
after the hour of eight o'clock in the evening.

19. Candidates for the offices of Mayor and Council-
man to be voted for at all general municipal elections at
which a Mayor and City Councilmen are to be elected shall
be nominated by a primary election, and no other name
shall be placed on the general ballot except those selected
in the manner hereinafter prescribed or as prescribed by
law. The primary elections for such nomination shall be
held on the fourth Tuesday in January in the year of 1949
and every four years thereafter. The judges appointed
for the general municipal elections shall be the judges of
the primary election, with the same clerks as are required
for the general municipal election. Any person desiring
to become a candidate for Mayor or City Councilman shall,
at least 12 days prior to said primary election, file with
the City Clerk a statement of such candidacy in substan-
tially the following form:

Candidate for nomination for Mayor/Councilman of the
.......................................... party, State of Maryland, Washington
