(a) All "Special Officers" may be paid for their services
by the community, development, places of public amusement
or recreation, places of business, or operators thereof.

(b) All "Special Officers" appointed by the County Con)
missioners of Anne Arundel County shall have all of the
powers possessed by Sheriffs of the State of Maryland tinder
the general law of the State, or the local laws of Anne Arundel
County, in so far as such powers are in reference to the crimi-
nal jurisdiction of said sheriffs in making arrests, or in any
manner enforcing the law or laws of the State of Maryland.

(c) No special officer shall wear any uniform which is not
plainly distinguishable from that prescribed for the regular
county police force.

432. Misrepresentation.

(a) Any person falsely representing himself to be a police
officer, special officer, constable, sheriff, or deputy of Anne
Arundel County for any wrongful purpose shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined not less
than Five Dollars ($5. 00) nor more than One Hundred
Dollars (f 100. 00) or sentenced for not less than ten (10)
nor more than sixty (60) days in jail.

SEC. 2. And tie it further enacted, That any member or
former member of the Anne Arundel County Police Force
receiving a pension under any prior law shall continue to
receive such pension at the rate set by such prior law as
though and to the same extent as if such prior law had not
been repealed by this Act, and such pension shall not be
discontinued or diminished by any provisions of this Act.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That any and all public
general laws or public local laws, and any and all parts
thereof, inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are
hereby repealed to the extent of any such inconsistency.

SEC. 4. And be it 'further enacted. That should any sec-
tion, or part of a section, of this Act be held invalid for any
reason, such holding shall not be construed as affecting the
validity of any remaining section or part of a section, it
being the legislative intent that the remainder of this Act
shall stand, notwithstanding the invalidity of such section
or part of a section.

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.
