(b) The Chief of Police is hereby authorized, and directed
to make all necessary rules and regulations therefor, and from
time to time change or amend such rules and regulations as
may be required to equip and maintain an efficient Detective
Bureau.
(c) The Chief of Police shall assign not more than five (5)
members of the police force to serve as members of the De-
tective Bureau, and from time to time may reassign the said
member or members back to duty with the regular police force
and may designate other members of the police force to be
members of the Detective Bureau.
(d) Transfer of any members of the police force to duty in
the Detective Bureau shall in no manner affect the rank,
salary, powers or benefits of any member, as said member
now holds or is entitled to hold as a member of the Anne
Arundel County Police Department.
(e) The Detective Bureau shall be under the direct charge
and control of the Chief of Police.
424. Secretary to Chief of Police.
(a) The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
are authorized and empowered to provide a secretary to the
Chief of Police of Anne Arundel County, such secretary to be
selected by the Chief of Police subject to the approval of the
County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County.
(b) The said secretary shall have such duties as may be
assigned by the Chief of Police and be subject to his direction
and supervision, and may be removed by him at any time.
The said secretary shall receive such salary as may be fixed
by the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County under
the provisions of Section 260 of this Article.
(c) The said secretary shall not be deemed to be a part
of the police force nor entitled to the benefit of the pension
laws for members of the police force, nor be entitled to wear
the police uniform.
425. Clerks.
The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County are
hereby authorized and empowered to provide clerks for the
police department of said county, such clerks to be selected
by the Chief of Police. They shall have such duties as may
be assigned to them by the Chief of Police and to be subject
to his direction and supervision and removable by him at any
time, and to receive such salary as may be fixed by the County
