trict Heights", providing for the governmental authority of
the Town of District Heights and for the construction of
streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and storm sewers, and
for the methods of payment for same and providing for a
referendum thereon.

SECTION 1. Be< it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 473 of Article 17 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland title, "Prince George's County", sub-
title "District Heights", be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments to read as follows:

473-A. The Town of District Heights and the District
Heights Commission shall have power to adopt building,
electrical, use and occupancy, and zoning regulations, and
charge reasonable permit fees. They shall have power to
adopt ordinances to require licenses to conduct all kinds of
businesses and to impose reasonable license fees. They shall
have power to provide for drainage, sewerage, sanitation,
clerical and other public service, including fire protection, re-
moval of ashes, garbage and other refuse, and the disposal
thereof, to purchase, acquire by gift or grant, and hold or
dispose of real and personal property for the benefit of said
town, including the power to lease or rent the same, to incur
expenses and debts on behalf of said town, to provide for any
pay the expense governing said town, including the expense
of having a meeting place for said Commission and a place
for keeping the records, books, property and other things of
said town, the expense of registering voters, conducting elec-
tions, providing records, books and other things necessary
for the proper government of said town, the expense of pay-
ing the salary of the Town Treasurer, the expense of hiring
persons, including an attorney or attorneys to perform work
. or service for said town, to enter into contracts on behalf
of said town for the foregoing or any other lawful purpose
in connection with the government of said town and to fix
the amount of compensation to be paid thereunder, and to
expend the moneys and funds of said town for any of the
foregoing or any other lawful purpose for the benefit of said
town, and to do all other acts, and things subject only to
limitation of this sub-title, for the good government of the
Town of District Heights, and for the benefit of said town.

473-B. The Town of District Heights and the District
Heights Commission, shall have full power by ordinance to
establish the grades of the streets, gutters and sidewalks of
said town, fix the width thereof and prescribe the material
of which they shall be constructed or reconstructed; to cause
the streets, sidewalks or alleys to be paved or otherwise im-
