SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by
three-fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to add a new sub-section to Section 141 of Article
661/2 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947 Supple-
ment), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Operation of Ve-
hicles Upon Highways", said new sub-section to be known
as Sub-section (f) and to follow immediately after Sub-
section (e) of said section, authorizing funeral processions
to continue through an intersection against the red light
under certain conditions:
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new sub-section be and it is hereby added to
Section 141 of Article 66 1/2 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1947 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title
"Operation of Vehicles Upon Highways", said new sub-section
to be known as Sub-section (f) and to follow immediately
after Sub-section (e) of said section and to read as follows:
141.
(f) Any other provisions of this section to the contrary
notwithstanding, it shall be lawful for a funeral procession
to continue through an intersection facing a red light, pro-
vided the first vehicle or vehicles in said procession has al-
ready entered the intersection before the light has changed
from green to red, provided that the vehicles in the procession
have their headlights on. While the funeral procession is
proceeding through said intersection, it shall be unlawful
for any vehicle not in such procession to enter said intersec-
tion although facing the green light. Any person violating
the provisions of this sub-section shall be guilty of a mis-
demeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be subject to a
penalty of not more than $25. 00 for each and every such vio-
lation.
