pursuant to the provisions of this sub-title after June 1,
1951. It is the purpose of this sub-title to enable munici-
palities to secure the benefits of any agency of the Federal
Government engaged in a works program, to encourage
public works, to reduce unemployment and thereby to
assist in the national recovery and promote the public welfare,
and it is also the purpose of this sub-title to enable munici-
palities to accept and secure the assistance and benefits of
any agency of the Federal Government given to encourage
or to aid in the construction or acquisition of public works,
made necessary by and connected with post-war reconstruc-
tion and to enable municipalities to accept and secure the
benefits of any agency of the Federal Government given for
or to aid in a program of public health, medical research or
medical care, and to these ends municipalities shall have
power to do all things necessary or convenient to carry out.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
13 (a) (b) and (c) of Article 89B of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1947 Cumulative Supplement), title "State
Roads", sub-title "Distribution and Use of Special Funds",
as enacted by Section 13 of Chapter 560 of the Acts of 1947,
relating to the method of distributing certain special funds
to the counties and municipalities.
SECTION 1* Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 13 (a) (b) and (c) of Article 89B of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1947 Cumulative Supplement),
title "State Roads", sub-title "Distribution and Use of Special
Funds", as enacted by Section 13 of Chapter 560 of the Acts
of 1947, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, so as to read as follows:
13. Twenty per cent, of the monies paid into the Gasoline
Tax Fund during any fiscal year, together with funds added
