101. The fiscal year for the City of Cumberland shall be-
gin on the first day of July in each and every year. All
books required to be kept by the several officers as here-
inbefore provided, shall be procured by the Mayor and City
Council, and the same, together with all papers pertaining
thereto, shall be the property of said city, and shall be re-
turned to said Mayor and City Council by the officer or
officers required to keep the same, at the end of their term.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

(House Bill 517)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
141A and 141B, Article 8, of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Cecil County, "
sub-title "County Commissioners, " as amended by Chapter
461 of the Acts of 1947, relating to the annual levy by
the County Commissioners of Cecil County for the main-
tenance of the Volunteer Fire Companies in said County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 141A and 141B, Article 8, of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Cecil
County", sub-title "County Commissioners", as amended by
Chapter 461 of the Acts of 1947, be and they are hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

141 A. The County Commissioners of Cecil County are
hereby directed to levy, on the assessable property in Cecil
County, annually, the sum of Nine Thousand Six Hundred
Dollars ($9, 600. 00) for the purpose of assisting in the main-
tenance of the eight volunteer fire companies in Cecil County,
namely, Cecilton Fire Company, Charlestown Fire Company,
Inc., Chesapeake City Fire Company, Singerly Fire Company
of Elkton, North East Fire Company, Community Fire Com-
pany of Perryville, Water Witch Fire Company at Port De-
posit and the Rising Sun Fire Company. Levy shall be made
in the month of June and the said sum. of money to be paid
by the County Commissioners of Cecil County to the said
volunteer fire companies pro rata. The said County Commis-
