WHEREAS, during the year 1939 a new fire station or
fire house was built on Fifth Street, since which time the
Willow Street property is no longer needed; and
WHEREAS, the said Mayor and Council of Pocomoke
City has agreed to sell the said lot, together with the build-
ings and improvements thereon and the rights and appur-
tenances thereto belonging, in fee simple, to Worcester
Post No. 93, The American Legion, Incorporated, a Mary-
Corporation, at and for the sum of Fifteen Thousand Dol-
lars ($15, 000. 00); and
WHEREAS, authority from and/or consent of the General
Assembly of Maryland is considered advisable to invest
said Mayor and Council of Pocomoke City with power and
authority to sell and to grant and to convey said lot, with
its improvements, and appurtenances, unto Worcester Post
No. 93, The American Legion, Incorporated, and to its
successors and assigns; therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Mayor and Council of Pocomoke City, be, and it
is hereby authorized and empowered to. sell, in fee simple,
the lot owned by said Mayor and Council of Pocomoke
City and located on the Northeast side of Willow Street,
together with all improvements thereon and all rights and
appurtenances thereto belonging, unto Worcester Post No.
93, The American Legion, Incorporated, a Maryland Cor-
poration, at and for the sum of Fifteen Thousand Dollars
($15, 000. 00).
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said Mayor
and Council of Pocomoke City, upon payment of the afore-
said purchase price, be, and it is hereby authorized and
empowered to grant and convey the said lot, together
with all the buildings and improvements thereon and all
rights and appurtenances belonging thereto, in fee simple,
unto Worcester Post No. 93, The American Legion, Incor-
porated, a Maryland Corporation, and to its successors
and assigns.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and the same being passed by a yea and nay vote, sup-
ported by three-fifths of all the members elected to each
of the two Houses of the General Assembly, shall take
effect upon the date of its passage.
