CHAPTER 534

(House Bill 258)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 1A of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "City
of Cumberland", sub-title "Wages", to be known as Section
102F and to follow immediately after Section 102E, pro-
viding for the base wage for certain employees, and repeal-
ing Section 56A of Article 1A of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), as amended by Chapter
691 of the Acts of 1947.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and is hereby added to Article
1A of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "City of Cumberland", sub-title "Wages", to be
known as Section 102F and to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 102E, to read as follows:

102F. The base wage and/or salary of all general city
employees and officers, with the exception of casual or tem-
porary employees, and employees on probation, and members
of the police and fire department, shall be the wage or salary
paid said employees and officers, whether on an hourly or
monthly basis, as of March 31, 1943, plus thirty per cent of
said wages or salary paid said employees and officers on
either an hourly or monthly basis as of March 31, 1943.

SEC. 2. And be> it further enacted, That Section 56A of
Article 1A of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), as amended by Chapter 691 of the Acts of
1947, is hereby repealed.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two Houses
of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
