1278 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 526

The Sheriff may appoint four (4) deputies at an annual
salary of f2, 400 each; one of said deputies shall be assigned
by the Sheriff to attend the Magistrate for Juvenile Causes
to execute his processes, orders and directions, and when not
so engaged, to perform such other duties as the Sheriff may
require. One of said deputies shall be designated by the
Sheriff to keep accurate books and records of his office in
addition to his regular and usual duties and for which he
shall be paid f 180. 00 per year.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 526
(House Bill 174)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 6
of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition and 1947 Supplement), title "Public Education7',
sub-title "Chapter 2. Formation of Boards", and to add a
new section to said Article and sub-title, said new section
to be known as Section 7B, and to follow immediately after
Section 7A thereof, relating to the appointment and tenure
of the Board of Education of Caroline County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 6 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition and 1947 Supplement), title "Public
Education", sub-title "Chapter 2. Formation of Boards", be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
and that a new section be and it is hereby added to said
Article, said new section to be known as Section 7B, to follow
immediately after Section 7A of said Article, and all to read
as follows:

6. County Boards of Education shall be composed in the
counties of Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Dorchester, Wash-
ington, Somerset and Montgomery of six members, and in
each of the other counties (except Anne Arundel and Caroline
for which separate provisions are made by Section 7 and 7B
of this Article), of three members, who shall be appointed
from the citizens of the county by the Governor for a term
of six years from the first Monday in May next succeeding
their appointment, and they shall hold office until their suc-
