only such persons admitted as have a direct interest in the
case;
(9) No adjudication by the Magistrate for Juvenile Causes
upon the status of any child shall operate to impose any civil
disabilities, nor shall any child be deemed a criminal by rea-
son of such adjudication. The proceedings with reference to
a child or any evidence given before the Magistrate for Juve-
nile Causes shall not be admissible as evidence against the
child in any case or proceedings in any other court, unless
it be upon an appeal from the Magistrate for Juvenile
Causes;
(10) He shall have original, exclusive jurisdiction concern-
ing any child who is dependent, delinquent, neglected or
feeble-minded;
(11) He shall have original, exclusive jurisdiction to try,
subject to the right of trial by jury unless waived, any
parent, guardian, adult or other person causing, encouraging
or contributing towards the dependency, delinquency or neg-
lect of any child as hereinafter denned.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-sec-
tion (a) of Section 37B of Article 87 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Sheriffs", sub-
title "Compensation and Duties", relating to the compensa-
tion of the sheriff of Allegany County.
§
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sub-section (a) of Section 37B of Article 87 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title
"Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and Duties", be and the
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
37B.
(a) The Sheriff of Allegany County shall receive an annual
salary of |4. 000.
