purpose than herein set forth, he or they, shall, upon
trial and conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of not less
than One Thousand Dollars ($1, 000. 00), or be sentenced
to confinement in the Allegany County Jail for not more
than six months, or both fine and imprisonment, in the
discretion of the Court.

SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, See-
302 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1947 Supplement), title "Crimes and Punishments, "
sub-title "Gaming, " providing for the operation of a
game of bingo by certain organizations and corporations
in Queen Anne's County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 302 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Crimes and Punish-
ments, " subtitle "Gaming, " be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

302. Nothing in this sub-title shall be construed to
make it unlawful for any bona fide fraternal, religious,
or charitable organizations or corporations, or volunteer
fire company operating in communities which have no paid
fire department, to conduct or operate a game of bingo
for the benefit of charity in Allegany, Anne Arundel, Queen
Anne's or Kent Counties, or in furtherance of the purposes
of such organizations, corporations or volunteer fire de-
partment.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.
