1176 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 486

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 38 (c) of Article 1A of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "City of
Cumberland", sub-title "Police and Fire", as said section
was amended by Chapter 659 of the Acts of 1947; and
Sub-sections (a) and (b) of Section 38A of Article 1A of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "City of Cumberland", sub-title "Police and
Fire", as said sub-sections were amended by Chapter 671
of the Acts of 1947, be and they are hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

38.

(c). Each member of the Police Force shall be granted
an annual vacation or leave of absence of not less than
fifteen days with pay after one year of service, and said
vacation or leave of absence may be taken with the ap-
proval of the Chief of Police in such manner and at such
time as the members may desire, providing that vacation
periods or leave of absence is granted in accordance with
the seniority of the members as the members may prefer.
In addition to the above vacation leave, each member of the
Police Force shall be granted leave of absence with pay
one day each week to be designated by the Chief of Police
and shall be allowed leave of absence with pay on account
of sickness not to exceed fifteen (15) days in any one year.
Any member of the Police Force may accumulate unused
sick leave from year to year, up to sixty days and may use
the same for sick leave at any time. Any officer or member
of the Police Department injured or disabled in the per-
formance of his duty shall receive full compensation for
such time as he may be prevented from performing such
duties on account of the injuries or disabilities thus
received, and in addition thereto, shall be entitled to all,
medical, hospital and surgical expenses resulting from said
injury or injuries.

38A. (a) Each member of the Fire Department shall
be granted an annual vacation or leave of absence of not
less than fifteen days with pay after one year of service,
and said vacation or leave of absence may be taken, with
the approval of the Fire Chief, in such manner and at
such time as the members may desire; provided, that vaca-
tions or leave of absence be granted in accordance with
the seniority of the members as the members may prefer.

(b) In addition to the vacation leave granted in Sub-
section (a) of this section, each member of the Fire
Department shall be granted leave of absence with pay
