interest on said bonds semi-annually and to redeem said
bonds. And when redeemed, said bonds shall be cancelled.

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported
by three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the
two houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 444
(Senate Bill 223)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tion 200 of Article 66 1/2 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1947 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles, " sub-
title "Operation of Vehicles Upon Highways, " requiring
school buses to be equipped with stop lights, and relat-
ing to the equipment and painting on school buses.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 200 of Article 66 1/2 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles, " sub-
title "Operation of Vehicles Upon Highways, " be and it
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

200. (a) (Stop, Signals Front and Rear Vehicle
Painted Orange and Black. ) Such school bus shall also be
equipped with stop signals visible both to the front and to
the rear, and the body of such school bus shall be painted
orange and black, with the orange color predominating. In
addition, school buses shall be equipped with two rotary or
flashing type red stop lights, both of which shall be af-
fixed at the top of the bus on the front and rear, respec-
tively, in such a manner as to be visible to other vehicles
either approaching or following said bus. Said lights shall
be lighted and operating at all times while said buses are
loading or discharging school children but at no other time.

(b) Any new school bus purchased from and after Sep-
tember 1, 1949, shall be equipped with stop signals visible
both to the front and to the rear, and the body of any such
school bus shall be painted black and national school bus
