882 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 755

Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Licenses", sub-title
"Gasoline Tax", and to enact a new Section 242 in lieu
thereof, providing for the use of receipts from the One-
half Gent Gasoline Tax for servicing the bonds authorized
by this Act.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That eight new Sections be and the same are hereby added
to Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), sub-title "Chesapeake Bay Ferry System Im-
provement Bonds", said new Sections to be known as Sec-
tions 140-N, 140-0, 140-P, 140-Q, 140-R, 140-S, 140-T, and
140-U, to follow immediately after Section 140-M, and to
read as follows:

140-N. The State Roads Commission of Maryland is
hereby authorized and empowered to provide by resolution
for the issuance of Chesapeake Bay Ferry System Improve-
ment Bonds for the purpose of and in the aggregate prin-
cipal amount, not to exceed One Million Five Hundred
Thousand Dollars ($1, 500, 000) sufficient for paying

1—The expense of engraving, printing, required adver-
tising and other incidental outlays with respect to the issu-
ance of said bonds;

2—For the construction or the acquisition by purchase
of one or more double-end steel ferry boats, one of which
shall be named the "Governor Herbert R. O'Conor", capable
of transporting trucks, automobiles, and passengers, and
for the purchase of equipment for such boat or boats;

3—For the necessary marine and land construction to
erect a two-slip timber, concrete and/or timber and con-
crete terminal at or near the present terminal located at
Matapeake, and the construction of protecting jetties safe-
guarding the channel and the terminal at Matapeake, or
the enlargement of the jetty system at Sandy Point, and
after the construction of the new terminal, the State Roads
Commission may permit the use of the old wharf at Mata-
peake, or such portion thereof as said Commission shall,
in its discretion deem desirable, for the use of private boats
in loading and unloading farm products, fish or shell-fish;

4—For the purchase and installation of traffic control
equipment, especially the installation of automatic traffic
recorders and automatic toll collection control equipment
at the Ferry System termini;

5—For the construction of suitable buildings as may be
required to properly accommodate passenger traffic; office
