Council shall perform such duties as outlined aforesaid for
the chief police officer. The Mayor, in case of emergency,
may appoint special policemen for such periods, not exceed-
ing thirty (30) days, as he may deem necessary. Minimum
and maximum age qualifications of policemen appointed by
the Council shall be twenty-one (21) years and thirty-five
(35) years, respectively.

(F) The Council may allow any employee of the Town
such compensation for their services as may be deemed
reasonable and may appoint the same person to perform
the duties of more than one office.

(G) The Mayor, Members of the Council and all other
employees of the corporation, covered by this Act, shall,
before they enter upon the duties of their respective offices,
take an oath that they will support the Constitutions/of the
United States and the State of Maryland and that they will
diligently and faithfully discharge the duties of their offices
without favor, partiality or prejudices and they may be re-
quired to give bond in such penalty and with sureties as
the Council may deem necessary conditioned for the faith-
ful performances of their duties, said bond to be filed in
the office of the Town Clerk of the said Town.

(H) The employees herein provided for shall hold their
positions until resignation, death, retirement, as herein-
after provided, inability through sickness or injury, to
perform their duties or dismissal by the Mayor and Council

(I) Whenever any of the employees of the Town, speci-
fied in Section A hereof, has served the Town for a period
of thirty (30) years, he shall be entitled to a retirement
of 75% of the average salary paid to him by the Town dur-
ing the tenure of his office until his decease. When any
of the employees has served the Town for a period of
twenty-five (25) years he shall be paid 62 1/2% of the aver-
age salary paid to him by the Town during the tenure of
his office until his decease. When any employee has served
the Town for a period of twenty (20) years he shall be
paid 50% of the average salary paid to him by the Town
during the tenure of his office until his decease. When
any employee has served the Town for a period of fifteen
(15) years he shall be paid 37 1/2% of the average salary
paid to him by the Town during the tenure of his office
until his decease. In no event shall any monthly payments
provided for herein exceed the sum of $145. 00. For the
purpose of arriving at average salary of employee this sec-
tion shall be considered as retroactive as of January 1,
1932. Each period of fifteen (15) years, twenty (20)
