816 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 735

Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Harford County, "
sub-title "Justices of the Peace and Constables" (Higin-
bothom's Code), be and the same are hereby repealed and
re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:

403.

(a) In all criminal cases tried before the several Trial
Magistrates of Harford County, the fees, or costs, charged
by the said Magistrates shall be Four Dollars ($4. 00)
where the Defendant pleads not guilty and where the De-
fendant pleads guilty, the said fees, or costs, shall be Two
Dollars and Fifty Cents ($2, 50).

(b) In all civil cases before the several Trial Magis-
trates of Harford County the fees, or costs, charged by
said Magistrates shall be two Dollars ($2. 00).

404. Whenever any Constable of said County shall
make an arrest under a state warrant and bring-
the prisoner before a Trial Magistrate or a Jus-
tice of the Peace of the County, he shall be allowed and
receive, in addition to the seventy-five cents now allowed
by laws for serving said warrant, five cents per mile in
excess of five miles, for every mile he may have to travel
in the performance of said service, and the actual necessary
traveling expenses of each prisoner, and whenever he shall
attend a regular hearing or trial of said prisoner before
the Trial Magistrate or Justice of the Peace before whom
the prisoner is brought on said warrant, he shall be al-
lowed and receive for such attendance the sum of fifty
cents, the same to be paid by the County Commissioners
of said County, to be annually levied by them.

SEC. 2, And be it further enacted, That all laws, Public
General or Public Local, inconsistent with the provisions
of this Act, are hereby repealed to the extent of. such
inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on June 1st, 1945.
