CHAPTER 7.
(House Bill 70)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-section
(c) of Section 27 of Article 66 1/2 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-
title "Administration—Registration—Titling", relating to a
permanent registration system for motor vehicles.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sub-section (c) of Section 27 of Article 66 1/2 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Motor
Vehicles", sub-title "Administration—Registration—Titling",
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
27. (c) During any period of emergency the Department
may with the approval of the Governor adopt and issue such
other means of registration and identification as the Depart-
ment may deem sufficient. The Department may, with the
approval of the Governor, adopt a permanent registration
system and design and adopt permanent registration plates in
such form as to make effective such system.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 8
(House Bill 33)
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 96 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "United States",
to be under sub-title "Retention of Jurisdiction by the State",
said new section to be known as Section 42 and to follow
immediately after Section 41 of said Article, authorizing the
State of Maryland and political sub-divisions and agencies
thereof to take any necessary action to collect from the
United States any money that may be made available for re-
imbursing the State or political sub-divisions or agencies
thereof for taxes or other charges lost by reason of the United
States or its agencies acquiring title to property in Mary-
land.
